Finding Your Focus: Bouncing Back From the Holidays

Posted on January 10, 2016March 5, 2016 by Dr. Hal Edghill, D.C.

We had our fun, didn’t we? Fun food, fun drink, and a general disregard for all of those healthy choices we had been making leading up to the season of… well… FUN!

Welcome to the no-guilt part of having a healthy lifestyle. You can’t change the past so chalk it up to experience. It is now time to move on.

Since we are not dwelling on things that happened before, let’s get started writing this new chapter with a positive outlook and a pragmatic approach to getting on track.

If you are just starting into creating a healthier lifestyle for yourself, start off with easy-to-do activities.

Build on new habits and eventually you end up with a whole bunch of new habits. It all starts with one change.

start healthyFor those who interrupted some healthy habits, just jump back on that horse. You probably lost a little training but our bodies have this wonderful memory of where it has been, so getting back into shape is much easier/quicker than the first time we did it. Trust me on this, fitness is easy to get back – with a little work.

If you want some additional information on returning to activity, below are few pages with good (and reassuring) information.

  • Jumping Back on the Fitness Bandwagon
  • Five Steps to Get Back into Your Fitness Routine
  • Returning to Working Out Following a Layoff

“If you feel lost, disappointed, hesitant, or weak, return to yourself, to who you are, here and now and when you get there, you will discover yourself, like a lotus flower in full bloom, even in a muddy pond, beautiful and strong.”
― Masaru Emoto, Secret Life of Water

A Short Personal Note:
This blog has undergone a significant face-lift during the past couple of months and if you see something you like or dislike, I’d love hear from you. I am new to web development and while my skills grow with each new post, I learn from all who participate in the conversation.
Regular readers may also note a slight change in some of the content here as I have merged my Granny Gears blog (“Caring for the Aging Athlete in All of Us”) into Dr Hal Online. You will see some articles geared towards the athletes in the group but no jock-talk. This blog is still all about Health and Wellness for us regular people, no matter what your lifestyle.
Wishing you a Healthful and prosperous New Year!
